*You must bring your own bike. No bikes will be provided.

 

The Texas Regional Games Criterium, or "crit" start/finish line is near Morgan’s Wonderland Sports entrance in the Heroes Stadium parking lot. The competition will consist of set number of laps around a closed course made up of various turns around Heroes Stadium Parking Lot. There will be a lap counter at the start/finish line.

 

Each competitor will be provided with a race number and non-disposable timing chip.

Start list is subject to change due to number of competitors. Final schedule will be posted on the website www.texasregionalgames.com
and emailed to all competitors a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

 

Athlete check-in and chip retrieval: 2:30-3:00pm
Open Course: 2:30-3:00pm
Opening Announcements: 3:10pm

RECREATIONAL DIVISION:
The Recreational race will be 3 laps.
All bike types will race together in the Recreational Division.
This Recreational Division is ONLY for new cyclists who have been riding less than 1 year. There will be no "winner" and no places. Each participant who completes the recreational race will receive a finisher medal. Electric assist is allowed in this division.

COMPETITIVE DIVISION:
The competitive races will be 8 laps.

 

You must have knowledge and experience in gear management, cornering, starting, stopping and riding in a group safely to race in the Competitive division. No electric assist is allowed in the competitive division.

The winner is the first rider to complete the designated number of laps. Lapped riders will be required to finish on the same lap as the leader, and will be credited for their position in the race.

 

All bike types (handcycle, recumbent, upright and tandems) will be divided into separate categories for medals. Medals will be given to the top three athletes in each category. If there are 4 or more in a classification they will be separated for medals. If not, they will be combined with the next classification. 


Type of Bikes Allowed:
Upright Road Bike with drop bars (No Clip-on Aero Bars, No Time Trial or Triathlon Bikes, No Aero equipment, Wheels must have a minimum of 12 Spokes each) – for athletes with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), amputations, and other disabilities that allow one to control an upright bike independently. (Adaptations for limb impairment will be allowed at the discretion of the Race Director)

Handcycle – for athletes with spinal cord injury (SCI), double lower limb amputations, lower limb impairments, and other disabilities that require one to ride a hand/arm powered bike

Recumbent–for athletes with balance impairment, orthopedic injuries or amputations that require one to ride a three wheeled bike

Tandem – Road Bike with drop bars (No Clip-on Aero Bars, No Time Trial or Triathlon Bikes, No Aero equipment, Wheels must have a minimum of 12 Spokes each) for athletes with visual impairment/blindness or other disabilities that require one to ride a 2-person tandem bike. (Adaptations for limb impairment will be allowed at the discretion of the Race Director)
Please note- If you require electric assist to complete the Criterium you are only allowed to race in the Recreational Division. No e-assist are allowed in Competitive Divisions.

CYCLING CLASSIFICATIONS:
C1-5: classified by US Paralympics and ride an Upright bike
H1-5: classified by US Paralympics and ride a Handcycle
T1-2: classified by US Paralympics and ride an upright Tricycle
B/VI: classified by US Paralympics and ride a tandem bike
Open: do not have a US Paralympic classification
