  • There will be three 20 minute Competitive Division races this year where advanced cyclists can compete against people riding the same type of bikes.

Divisions

  • Each Division will have separate start times that are listed above.

RECREATIONAL DIVISION:

  • The Recreational race will be 15 minutes.

  • All bike types will race together in the Recreational Division.

  • This Recreational Division is ONLY for new cyclists who have been riding less than 1 year.

  • There will be no "winner" and no places. Each participant who completes the 15 minute race will be given a finisher medal.

  • Competitors in the Recreational division will not be given a timing chip. You can see your time on the Race clock at the Start/Finish line.

  • Electric assist allowed in this division.

COMPETITIVE DIVISION:

  • The Competitive races will be 20 minutes.

  • All bike types (handcycle, recumbent and uprights) will race in separate divisions at separate times.

  • You must have your own bike to race in the Competitive division. You must have knowledge and experience in gear management, cornering, starting, stopping and riding in a group safely to race in the Competitive division.

  • Each competitor in the Competitive division is provided with a numbered, non-disposable timing chip and zip ties.

  • The winner is the first rider to cross the finish line without having been "lapped". Medals will be given to the top three athletes in each Competitive division.

  • No electric assist allowed in this division.

Start TimesSupport, etc.

  • A time clock will be visible at or near the starting line. This is the official clock that the starter will use for all starts.  It is the responsibility of each competitor to be ready to go at his or her assigned start time.

  • Neutral Mechanical support will be located near the start finish line. In the event of a mechanical problem, the rider will make his/her way to the support pit via a route that does not interfere with other racers. The rider will be granted a free lap and will reenter the course at the discretion of the designated official monitoring the neutral support area.

  • Once the last lap bell has been sounded there will be no more free laps.

  • The neutral support official will track all athletes that are awarded a free lap and ensure that the timing officials adjust the results to reflect as such.

  • Drafting (riding in the slipstream of another Competitor) is permitted in the criterium.  Females and Males may draft with each other if they are racing in the same field. Uprights may only draft with uprights regardless of classification.  A rider may only pull into a slipstream at the end of a pace line or group. The divisions will be clearly marked and separated at the start line.

Results

  • Participants in the Competitive Divisions may check their personal time at the result kiosk located near the finish line after their race.

  • Only 3 finishers (6 feet apart) should be at the results screen at any one time.

  • Results will be posted on the Texas Regional Games website www.texasregionalgames.com within 48 hours.
